The durable water repellent action of our PFC-free DWR treatments comes from a hydrocarbon based, silicone based and/or wax based technology instead of fluorinated chemical. Irrespective of the ‘active ingredient´, all PFC-free DWR treatments used are totally free from all perfluorinated chemicals (PFC) (of course including both perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)), free from other halogenated substances and free from alkylphenolethoxylates, including nonylphenolethoxylates. The possible drawbacks are that the oil repellency and the durability of the PFC-free DWR treatments may be slightly lower than for a PFCcontaining option and therefore re-treatment for water repellency may be necessary at an earlier point in time. In all, we use very good, environmentally friendly alternatives to PFC-containing DWR treatments. Bluesign. The bluesign standard is an environmental scheme aimed at removing any substances that are potentially hazardous to human health or to the environment from the entire textile supply chain - from yarns, dyes, and additives, through to finished fabrics and trims. A material that has been approved by the bluesign standard ensures that its processing fulfils the following requirements:- The product itself is free from harmful chemicals in accordance to one of the most strict ‘restricted substance list´ ever published.
